& 4 The Soils:
Regenerate Virginia Healthy Soils Grant
(Check back often for updates on each phase of the project)

The purpose of this project is to regenerate the agricultural landscape by enhancing biodiversity, maintaining continuous soil cover, preserving living roots in the soil year-round, and reducing soil disturbance across the farm. These goals align directly with the core principles of soil health and guide the structure of our multi-year regeneration plan. To operationalize these soil health principles, we will establish distinct crop plots, each averaging 1.5 acres, separated by permanent grassy buffers to reduce erosion, enhance habitat, and protect soil structure. Each plot will rotate annually between active production and a minimum one-year fallow or rest period, ensuring that no more than half of the field is in production at any given time. Purchasing the implements essential for full implementation are a part of the project. This equipment makes achieving economies of scale, consistent soil regeneration, and long-term financial viability attainable. In addition, site improvements supporting visitor engagement are planned. Key performance indicators include: Annual increases in soil organic matter Improved soil chemical test results year-over-year Reduced weed pressure Improvement in biodiversity The project has 2 phases: I - Crop Field Improvements II- Pollinator Area and Woodland Improvements
Phase I
Improving production performance and obtaining equipment to support regenerative farming practices

Phase II
Phase II: Pollinator area and southern woodlands
